The ‘Comparing the Copperbelt’ project is organising a workshop ‘Comparing the Copperbelt: Political culture and knowledge production in Central Africa’ to be held in Kitwe, Zambia on 23-24 July 2018.
The workshop aims to bring together researchers on and in the Copperbelt region to share ideas on social, environmental and cultural history. Research papers from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds (history, anthropology, economics, etc.), approaches and regional focuses (both old and new mining regions) are welcomed. The workshop seeks to bring together academics, trade union leaders and environmental activists to foster discussions about the history and current condition of the Copperbelt region.
